The Government of Balochistan has decided in principle to conduct an inquiry into the alleged negligence of all the concerned departments committed in the Mach tragedy.
In this regard, the Chief Minister has directed to constitute Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the Mach incident.
The directive to this effect was issued by the Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan while chairing a high-level meeting held to review the law and order and the situation emerged following the tragic incident of Mach, here at the CM’s secretariat on Thursday.
Those who were present in the meeting included Provincial Minister Home and Tribal Affairs, Mir Ziaullah Langove, Advisors to Chief Minister, Abdul Khaliq Hazara and Muhammad Khan Lehri, Parliamentary Secretary Information Ms. Bushra Rind, Chief Secretary, Captain (Retd) Fazeel Asghar, Spokesman of the provincial government, Liaquat Shahwani, Secretary Labour Ms. Saira Atta, Commissioner Quetta, Asfandyar Khan Kakar, DGPR Syed Zahid Shah besides other concerned officers.
The Chief Secretary briefed the meeting about the overall situation of law and order particularly the situation of Mach and the following events in Quetta. The Chief Minister while expressing dismay over the Mach incident directed to immediately remove the Deputy Commissioner Kachhi and DPO Police from their offices.
The meeting also expressed dismay over the performance of Mine and Mineral and Labour and Manpower departments regarding lack of safety measures and poor system of data compilation of the colliers working in the mines across the Balochistan province.
It was directed to both the departments to compile data of all the mine workers working in the mines located all over the province.
