Speaking at the NCOC meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that the provincial government has taken steps to curb the spread of Corona virus and also taking steps to improve the health system and maintain economic and business activities and these sectors will be given top priority in the budget for the next financial year. The Chief Minister said that due to lack of specialized hospitals in the private sector in Balochistan. Depending on the government hospitals and testing of corona virus is being done only in government laboratories, the testing capacity has been increased. At present, there are 5 laboratories in the province where 1400 to 1500 tests are being done daily and also in Khuzdar. The Chief Minister said that so far 40,000 tests will be conducted in the province. The number of active cases in Balochistan is 5,600 of which 80% are in Quetta while the number of deaths is 93. The Chief Minister Stressing on the need for expansion of federal government co-operation for Ventilators and ICU beds, the Chief Minister said that agriculture in Balochistan was not on a very large tract of land but a large population was employed in the livestock and agriculture sectors. The Chief Minister also stressed on the need for NDMA assistance to eradicate the locusts.
