Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said that the Provincial Government and its agencies have made a concerted effort to tackle the challenge of corona virus, but due to the changing weather conditions, there are fears of increase in the spread of the virus, Balochistan was the first province to be exposed to the corona virus and take effective measures to prevent the spread of the virus. The Chief Minister directed Balochistan Command and Operations Center in consultation with health experts is required to prevent the spread of the virus in the coming days, immediately monitor the spread of the virus and prepare recommendations for smart lockdown.  He expressed these views during a high-level meeting to review the current status of corona virus. A detailed briefing was presented to the meeting by the Health Department on relevant issues.  The increase in the spread of the virus in recent days is worrying public health and health experts who attended the meeting expressed concerns over the spread of Corona virus as a result of climate change in light of a study report conducted to assess the prevalence of the virus.  Based on the decision to increase the corona virus testing capacity to 2000 per day, the meeting reviewed the corona virus testing capacity, performance of testing laboratories, corona virus victims tracking and tracking mechanism.  It was decided in the meeting that Health Department will be provided with testing kits, PCR machines and other equipment including PPE kits as per its requirements and funds will be released immediately for the purpose. The Chief Minister directed the Home Department to chalk out the strategy of smart lockdown as per the recommendations of BCOC and Health Department while ensuring implementation of Corona Virus Prevention SOPs in private and public educational institutions in all cases. The Chief Minister said that the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners also took steps to prevent the spread of the virus in their respective divisions and districts, he also said that all the concerned agencies should implement the decisions taken in the high level meetings for the eradication of Corona virus and follow them. The Chief Minister said that all the agencies should fulfill their responsibilities to address the current challenge of Corona virus.  He said that the quality of service delivery in the health sector cannot be compromised and the irregularities that have taken place should be rectified immediately. The Chief Minister directed the Secretary Health and the Director General of Health to complete the process of procurement of medicines immediately.
