A meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan reviewed the affairs of the Medical Store Department and the procedure for procurement of medicines۰The meeting has approved to complete the process of procurement of medicines for the financial year 2019-20. Under which MSD will procure medicines and medical equipment and provide them to the hospitals as per the requirements while the procurement of medicines for the financial year 2020-21 will be done by the committee headed by the Divisional Director Health. According to the requirements of the district hospitals while medical equipment and essential medicines will be purchased by MSD, Parliamentary Health Secretary Dr. Rababa Buledi, Health Secretary Dosteen Jamaldini, Special Secretary Health Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, DG Health Dr. Shakir Baloch attended the meeting. In-charge MSD Dr. Fahim Afridi briefed the meeting on relevant issues. The meeting also decided to release special funds to the Health Department for procurement of medicines and essential medical equipment on emergency basis during natural calamities. It was also decided to set up a cold storage facility for storage and activation of medicines at the divisional and district level. The meeting also discussed the improvement of MSD building in Quetta and capacity storage of medicines .Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the government was facing difficult challenges in the health sector, adding that due to lack of donors and private sector, the entire burden was on government hospitals so the management issues of these hospitals need to be improved, the Chief Minister said, adding that there is a good team in the health department in the form of Parliamentary Secretary Health, Secretary health and other officials. He said that there was a lot of room for improvement in the process of procurement, transportation and storage of medicine.
